The Subaru clutch disc is basically a steel plate sheathed with a frictional material that goes between the pressure plate and the flywheel. At its center is a hub designed to fit over the spines of the transmission’s input shaft. Once the clutch is engaged, this clutch disc is “squeezed” between the flywheel and the pressure plate, allowing power from the engine to be transferred by its hub to the transmission input shaft.
